What is a pip in trading?
A pip (short for "percentage in point" or "price interest point") is the smallest price movement a currency pair or financial instrument can make in the market. It’s a standard unit of measurement used to express price changes in trading.
For most forex pairs, a pip is 0.0001 of the quote currency. If EUR/USD moves from 1.1000 to 1.1001, that’s a 1 pip movement. While pips are most used in Forex, similar principles apply to commodities, indices, and shares — though they may use different terms such as points, ticks, or price increments.

What is a pip calculator?
A pip calculator is an essential trading tool for risk management. The calculator is used to work out the pip value of forex pairs, precious metals, indices, and more, in the account currency.
By knowing the pip value before opening a position, traders can better calculate their potential exposure and set more precise stop-loss and take-profit levels. It also helps ensure consistent position sizing across different currency pairs — even when dealing with fluctuating exchange rates.
